❤Jiufen B&B❤ Young ❤

Hi, everyone!

Welcome back to my blog!

I just came back from my taiwan trip recently and I really can't wait to share my fun experiences with you all.

Jiu Fen is a place that filled with Japanese culture and styles and it is situated at the hill where you can appreciate breathtaking scenery and chilling weather with your loved ones.

I was staying in one of these B&B (Bed and Breakfast) and it was such as fantastic and romantic encounter with this place.

It is called Young B&B or preferably known in its Chinese name, Yang Min Su --

You can either take a cab or bus if your luggage is not so bulky, and the B&B is located just right at the place called Dai Tian Fu (代天俯)in Jiu Fen. If you tell Yang Min Su to taxi driver, they would know right away and take you straight to the place.

They have two types of room. One at the 1st floor level -- Xia Ri Lan Yu(夏日蓝雨) and mine was at the ground floor level. The room that I booked was called Xiao Hei Guai.

Here are some pictures to check out what they have inside the room for you:

Basically, the room is well-furnished with everything you need whether during the summer or winter season. They have both body and hand towels ready for you as well as 3 pairs of slippers.
The room is very well-kept and clean. Of course, it is definitely spacious enough for you to hop around for excitement! (Haha)

There are television and Hi-Fi set, air conditioner, air purifier/dehumidifier and hangers.
There is also complimentary in-room WiFi.

As you can see, the room is well-decorated with a hint of old school style.
It feels like a little home here. (Sorry, no camera will be provided as shown in the picture! haha)

Everything is provided for your comfort and convenience so that
you would not need to worry about anything that you might forget to bring.
(Amenities: Refrigerator, kettles, cups, mineral waters, tea packs, tooth brush, razor, hair dryer)

The toilet is clean and spacious. You are also provided with bath gel and shampoo.

The B&B owner was a very friendly and helpful guy as he would give advise and
suggestions for where you could visit in Jiu Fen and Shi Fen.
Just ask him if you haven't already decided on your schedule yet!

Another cute thing in the house.

Terms and conditions for staying in the house. (From Yang Min Su)

  • Do not smoke in the house
  • Please turn off air conditioner and lights before you go out
  • Please check out before 11 am. If you would like to delay, please inform early or every one hour will be charged NTD 300
  • WiFi password
  • (This is the cutest part!) Please do not argue, must stay lovely and happy ❤ ❤ ❤

It was already 7 pm when we arrived at Jiu Fen. So the sky was already dark and it was raining.
So, I couldn't capture much clear pictures for you guys.
It was just... DARK! from our hotel view.. =.=

Breakkie time in Young B&B...

It felt so warm and romantic to have breakfast in the early morning with your loved one
during this rainy autumn season. ♥

Upon checking in, the owner will ask what time do you prefer to have your breakfast in the next morning. He will deliver the breakfast to your room based on your convenience.
If not forgotten, the choice of drinks would be coffee, milk tea and soy bean milk.
We ordered coffee and milk tea.

Our day 1 breakfast ♥ ♥ ♥

The sandwich was really tasty!

So lovely and healthy❣

Our day 2 breakfast ♥ ♥ ♥

It was such a cute breakfast!

Italian style breakkie ❣

We have enjoyed our lovely and pleasurable time here for 3 days 2 nights.

Upon checking out, we asked if we could leave our baggage in the B&B so that we could have our final grab in Jiu Fen old street.

The owner was helpful enough and agreed to let us leave our baggage til around 1 pm.

So...

That was all for my first stay in Taipei. ✌

The breathtaking view from Yang B&B (Just right in front of your room!)

Please stay tuned for more of my unforgettable encounters in Jiu Fen old street.

On my next review, I will tell you what's famous in Jiu Fen and will bring you through a droolicious journey.

Putien 莆田

Saturday dine-in

Putien is a brand name traces from one of the city in China, Putian where they serve Chinese cuisine in Fujian style.

I have been here for a few times. Before deciding to review it to you guys, I have tried out a few popular dishes, so that I could recommend some of these really delicious dishes for you.

There you go!

Putien Lor Mee

I have been here for three times. This is the one that I have ordered for three times during each of my visit. The soup tastes really light and plain. Lor Mee is really soft and easy to swallow and most importantly, it does not have that alkaline taste. (If you know what I mean, 鹼水味 ) It is cooked with seafoods (e.g. shellfish, prawn etc) and vegetables (e.g. celery etc) which added a hint of freshness and healthiness to the meal. The soup is not too oily and for girls, if you are on diet, I bet it's the best dish that you could choose to watch out for calorie. You may order one bowl and it is sufficient to be shared by two persons. It is best when you order other ala carte dishes to pair with it. No way to resist this!

Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon

My first time trying this. If you prefer something easy and dry, this is the one for you. The bee hoon is very soft, smooth and fine to chew. It is infused with a variety of ingredients, such as prawns, (as you can see, the size of the prawn is not tiny at all) mushrooms, vegetables, tou fu slices, clamps, pork and etc. It is not greasy at all and also suitable for kids and elderly to eat.

Crispy Pork Ribs with Water Chestnuts

I do not know how to describe this, but this is definitely one of the best pork ribs that I've ever ate in town. The pork ribs are so soft, so easy to chew and yet so crispy. It is cooked with sweet and sour sauce and some crunchy chestnuts. It tastes amazingly delicious even at my first bite. It was my second time to order this because I was really craving for this taste of pork ribs. Must try!

I had also tried a few dishes prior to this but because I forgot to take camera with me, so I did not get to capture pictures. Here are the adopted images from other site. (Will update pictures again if I order the same foods next time =))

Shredded meat with  Bun

I tried this during my first visit as it is recommended by one of their friendly staffs. The shredded pork is cooked with sweet onions and it is wrapped with golden brown sesame bun. To me, it's like a chinese "tacos". They also provide you a plastic glove for hygiene sake.

Cabbage Fried Rice

I am a typical Asian. I need rice to keep me going in my everyday life. It is simple, plain, non-greasy and infused with all kinds of fresh ingredients. You should try this out if you love to eat fried rice. Hmm. Will definitely come back for this, again.

Putien Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychee

Last but not least, I just want to express my overwhelming loves to the pork dishes that Putien made. They are just simply fantastic and make your craving deepened. The meat is extremely tender and the lychee is such a perfect complement to the dish which added a kind of natural sweetness to the pork. This is probably one of the best sweet and sour pork that I've ever tried at those restaurants in the mall! (I am drooling when I am writing this! T_T)

So far, they have only two branches in Kuala Lumpur, One Utama Shopping
Centre (old wing) and Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall.

I have only been to the outlet in Sunway Pyramid mall. The queue is usually very long after 7 pm. So please do come early for your dinner if you can't wait to try these out!

Bon appetit! Xoxo

Cameron Delight- What to eat in Cameron Highland

Jim Thompson Tea Room @ Cameron Highland Hotel, Tanah Rata

(而两人份的套餐却是RM 80 for two person )

(Assortment of Cakes and Pastries)

(Selection of smoked salmon, tuna, egg and cress cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches)口味包括了有三文鱼、金抢鱼和最原始口味的鸡蛋乳酪三明治。

(Freshly baked scones, home-made strawberry jam and clotted cream)

Good bye and have a wonderful holiday!

Peace~ ^_^

Hunt for Best Ipoh Foods: Ipoh Roadtrip 2015

Hello, everybody! I recently went to Ipoh for a short getaway. I had been to a few famous eating stalls around Ipoh city and they were really good and worth trying!

It was only a short trip, so I could only recommend you a few MUST-eat foods around Ipoh and the best thing was they are all nearby to each other!

Pork satay (猪肉沙爹) - Restoran Thean Chun

Restoran Thean Chun is basically an old style coffee shop. The shop is located at Jalan Bandar Timah, next to another coffee shop called Kong Heng. Some people said that it is located in an alley in between these two coffee shops. But I thought more accurately it is actually attached to Restoran Thean Chun. It is also next to a mini branch of Lou Wong Nga Choi Gai (Restoran Tauge Ayam).

There are plenty of food variety here. The one that I would highly recommend to you is pork satay (Words can't describe how good it tastes!) The meat is fresh and soft. The pork satay's taste is enhanced even better when it is dipped in satay paste. Even if you are not a meat lover, the combination will still stimulate your salivary gland and make you crave for more!

Totally recommend this!

Restoran Thean Chun

Restoran Kong Heng

The satay stall is situated  in an alley
in between Restoran Thean Chun and Restoran Kong Heng.

You can choose either chicken or pork satay.
Besides, they are also selling pork intestines and liver.

Pork satay

Yum! Initially, I ordered 25 sticks but ended up with adding another 15 more sticks.

Chee Cheong Fun (猪肠粉) - Restoran Thean Chun

There is another stall beside the satay which selling Gai Xi Hor Fun and Chee Cheong Fun. I didn't get to try the Gai Xi Hor Fun, but only managed to order a plate of Chee Cheong Fun. You can either order a plain or meat-filled Chee Cheong Fun. It is smooth, content is fresh and not too oily. Some stalls may have added too much cooked oil to enhance the taste, however, it was not too overwhelmed for this. It is worth trying!

Chee Cheong Fun

The chee cheong fun basically contained
3 different types of flavor based on your preference.

Caramel egg custard (炖蛋) - Restoran Thean Chun

It is ordered together with drinks. There will be a person (most likely an 'aunty') who approached to order beverage and you can mention to her that you want a plate of caramel egg custard. It is smooth, soft and sweet. For dessert lover, you may adore it!

Big Tree Foot (忠记兵如港口大树头炸料粉)

It is located at 652, Jalan King, Pasir Pinji Ipoh. Basically, it is a Yong Tau Fu stall. The stall open everyday at 830- 500 pm, except Wednesday. (I forgot to capture shop signage after seeing the foods there =P) I had this for my brunch. There are plenty of choices, namely bitter gourd, lady-finger, egg plant, long bean, fried Wan Tan, fried Fu Pei, and etc. All the vegetables are fully stuffed with fish flesh and best thing is the ingredients taste really fresh and they do not taste fishy at all! To me, my least favourite would be the long beans as it tastes way too greasy for me. (But, it's totally depends on your own taste!)

You can also order your favourite type of noodle to match with the ingredients that you have picked. I ordered a bowl of Lou Shu Fen and Asam Laksa. If you like something fast and easy, then Lou Shu Fen is your best choice. It tastes really plain and not too oily, and it is perfect when you eat together with the fried ingredient whereas for Asam laksa, it tastes really concentrated, hot and rich in sardine fish and other vegetables. Overall, both noodles are awesome!

Asam Laksa

Lou Shu Fen

As you can see, the lady finger is gigantic and content is fully filled with fish flesh.
The bitter gourd is really fresh and I really like the egg very much. They are sinfully delicious!

Funny Mountain Tau Fu Fah (奇峰豆腐花)

Tau Fu Fah a.k.a Soybean Curd, or Soy Custard is traditionally known as a Chinese snack or dessert (whichever you think it is) which made from Soybean into a very soft, smooth texture "pudding" serving with a drizzle of sugar syrup on top of it.

And yes, the most well-known place where you can find the best Tau Fu Fah in Ipoh will be Funny Mountain. It is located at 49, Jalan Theater, Ipoh. There is also drive-through service where you can literally choose to have your bowl of Tau Fu Fah in the car.

Before I came to this place, I wondered how good would it taste as I heard people were fawning about it. After I had a taste with it, it completely proved its quality to me. The curd was so smooth and soft that it almost melted instantly in your mouth. So, don't forget to try this yourself when you are here in Ipoh.

Sin Eng Heong (新荣香)

Kaya puff! Kaya puff!!! No doubt it was the tastiest and crispiest Kaya puff that I ever tried! This is definitely a must-try food in Ipoh and highly recommend it as souvenirs to share with your friends and family who have yet been here. It is located at 64, Jalan Mustapha  Al-Bakri, Ipoh.

I did not get to take much photos in the shop as it was raining on the day of my arrival at the shop. (People and things went a bit messy) However, as you can see, there were many people queuing up to buy the freshly-baked Kaya puff from the shop. I bought few packets as souvenirs and best part is that the Kaya Puffs still remained crispy, fresh and rich in Kaya taste even when we ate it after three days later.

Remember to share it with your loved ones!

Sin Eng Heong

The queue was even longer when I started to line up,
but it was really worth though. Must try!

Lastly, just a glimpse of where I stayed for my short getaway in Ipoh.

I stayed in one these budget hotels called Golden Roof Hotel which located at Jalan Ampang Baru 6A, Pusat Perdagangan Ampang Baru, 31350 Ipoh, Perak. When I booked it through Agoda.com, it was around RM 98 inclusive of all taxes for a deluxe room. As far as I know, the hotel was quite new as it only established since 2013.

The hotel is located inside a residential area and it was roughly about 10 minutes drive from the town. Therefore, if you wish to stay near to the town, it might be a least convenient choice for you. But if you do prefer a more quiet and private environment, it would be a good spot for relaxation.

The hotel room was clean, cozy and comfortable for one night stay, although it was a bit small. To me, most important thing is the hotel appeared new and clean in the way it should be. Toilet was spacious enough and it was well-maintained. Hotel staffs were friendly, too. In conclusion, it was better than expectation and definitely worth for a short stay.

Just for your reference: http://www.goldenroofhotel.com/index.php/en/golden-roof-hotel/golden-roof-hotel-ipoh

P/S: I do not have any collaboration with the hotel. It was solely based on my personal experience and comments that I wanted to share with all of you and hopefully it would be helpful for you to make plannings when it's your turn to travel to Ipoh.

Happy Holiday and Safe Trip, Everyone!!!
